For 50 years, The Jewish Home For the Elderly has been a first choice for families when there is a need to transition to long-term care, and consider us an extension of their own homes.
Families appreciate the 5-star quality rating, awarded from the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services in recognition of the care and services we provide and we are proud of the exceptional professionals that make the difference in the lives of those in our trust.
Food prepared in the Home is Kosher style, and we offer a Kosher household (Kaufman) for those who prefer. The Berkowitz Family Courtyard Café is also strictly Kosher. On-site rabbinical training programs are established with Yeshiva University and The Jewish Theological Seminary, Shabbat, and Holiday services are held in our beautiful synagogue and near Resident households, enabling spiritual involvement for all.
The Director of Pastoral Services is a key member of the Leadership Team and coordinates programs with community clergy to offer everyone opportunities for spiritual expression.
The Jewish Home is licensed by the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health.
Our Household Model of Care offers a home setting where each Resident lives in a house of 14 and enjoys their private room and bath. Shared spaces for dining, living room, den and outside balcony encourage gatherings, socialization and engaging days. Households are staffed with talented and dedicated caregivers, guided by a Resident-centered philosophy that maintains independence and dignity, enabling individuals to live life balanced with quality care to the fullest.
Experienced physicians, nurses, rehabilitation therapists, recreational therapists, social workers and clergy provide outstanding care and support the physical, social and spiritual needs of every person we are privileged to serve.
Extensive programming connects Residents to the community with a variety of choices that includes daily social activities, family and volunteer visits, trips to theaters, museums and local attractions. We are known for our warm and friendly environment and offer:
