CNA Program

We are pleased to announce that Jewish Senior Services (JSS) will once again sponsor a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Training Program.  This program is supported in part by the Walmart Foundation.


The training program for qualified candidates will teach the essential duties of a Certified Nursing Assistant and will demonstrate how to interact with Residents, assess Resident needs, and how to monitor and observe the overall condition of Residents. 


A new component of the course will focus on providing care for those individuals living in a home environment and those assigned to our Home Care Program.   


This program is fully sponsored by JSS and pays all expenses including tuition, required materials and books.  This is a 7-week course that will feature combined classroom and clinical education.  Classes will begin on March 12, 2018 and end on April 27, 2018.  Weeks 1–4 classes will take place: Monday–Thursday (4 days) from 5:00–8:30pm.  Weeks 5–7 classes will take place: Monday, Wednesday and Friday (3 days) from 5:00–8:30pm.  Classes will be held in the Education Suite at Jewish Senior Services.


Any Jewish Senior Services employee, in good standing, who is interested in this program, should submit the following to Employee Relations for consideration by Thursday, February 22, 2018 by 3:00pm:

·      Letter of interest that outlines why JSS should sponsor you

·      Letter of recommendation from your Supervisor

·      Letter of recommendation from a non-related personal reference


Outside candidates will be required to pass a written skill assessment and should submit the following to Employee Relations by Thursday, February 22, 2018 by
3:00pm in person:

·      Letters of recommendation from non-related personal references

·      A completed Jewish Senior Services Employment Application (to be completed online at


Interviews to select qualified candidates will take place the week of February 26th.  Selected candidates will receive the following:

·            Free class tuition

·            Free books and miscellaneous course materials

·      An offer of employment (shift, hours, household determined by organizational needs. *Note: weekends are required as part of schedule)

***Please note: Selected applicants will be responsible for purchasing white scrubs and white shoes to be worn to classes


Requirements include the following:

·      Selected employees must be an employee in good standing (this includes attendance), and have passed pre-screening requirement

·      Criminal background check and drug test, physical and PPD

·      Availability to attend the evening courses for 7 weeks and meet punctuality and attendance standards

·      Agreement to work at Jewish Senior Services in an open position for one (1) year upon receiving certification (shift, hours, household or assignment to Home Care program for that year will be determined by the needs of JSS)

·      Availability to work up to 4 weeks of orientation if needed (will include different shifts), the first 8 weekends and then every other weekend as part of schedule

·      Agreement to repay the cost of the program ($1,000) if unable to fulfill agreement or complete course
